2021 marks the 70th anniversary of the Festival of Britain.
Did you know that London Transport sent some of its iconic red buses on a tour of Europe in the lead up to the festival? Their insides were converted to exhibition spaces, including models of the South Bank site itself.
And did you know that Abram Games, the designer of the Festival of Britain logo, was also a hugely influential designer of London Transport posters?
As we celebrate reopening the Museum and welcoming you back into London, we look back at a rich history of celebrations in and about our city.
Explore our galleries in a relaxed atmosphere at this evening opening, then enjoy a Routemaster cocktail at our Lower Deck bar and test your knowledge in a live quiz hosted by the Museum’s Director, Sam Mullins OBE.
